Some might call it the perfect storm -- a confluence of seemingly random events that work together to make something larger than the sum of its parts. Heavy duty truck-lovers have been waiting for this type of storm for quite a few years, and they'll likely have to wait a long while before something like this happens again. Last year the Ram HD made a dramatic debut and won our 2010 Motor Trend Truck of the Year. This year, both Ford and GM are bringing their best and brightest (and strongest ever) to the party. And now the table is set for battle royal...but we're getting ahead of ourselves.
First Test: 2011 Toyota Avalon
The 2011 Toyota Avalon is powered by a 24-valve, dual-overhead cam 3.5-liter V6 engine with an dual VVT-i electronic valve-control mechanism that develops 268 hp at 6,200 rpm. With this unit under its hood, the 2011 Toyota Avalon offer a fuel consumption of 20 mpg in the city, 29 highway, and 23 combined.
The 2011 Toyota Avalon price list will be announced at a later date.
The redesigned 2011 Toyota Avalon will begin arriving at Toyota dealerships nationally in spring 2010.

The Chevrolet Volt is the first vehicle of its kind to be mass produced, known as a series hybrid for its electric-only propulsion that is regenerated through the use of a four-cylinder gas generator.
The Volt comes in a single form, a five-door hatchback, similar in size to the Toyota Prius. More precisely, the Volt measure 177 inches long, making it a little shorter than the current Cobalt.

The 2011 Kia Sorento — which will occupy showrooms in early January 2010 — is the first vehicle that will roll out of Kia's brand-new manufacturing plant in West Point, Georgia.
